Gerrish Island

The owners of this house had purchased a home and landscape in need of renovation. We met with the clients and listened to their objectives before drawing them a design.

We began by removing a majority of the plantings along or near the house. The existing landscape included a circular driveway which came right up to the house, leaving a barren area of asphalt devoid of greenery. We removed half of the circular driveway and replaced it with nature. We installed an irregular bluestone walkway and patio in which each piece was hand cut. A border was created around the walkway using cobblestone.

Next, drainage pipe was installed and nutrient rich loam was spread to change grades and create ideal planting beds. Low maintenance trees, shrubs and perennials were planted and mulched. Areas close to the house were sodded while other lawn areas were hydro seeded.

All of these elements in the landscape came together to enhance the beauty of the home and its natural surroundings.
