Goose Rocks

The client's home is situated in fragile coastal sand dunes, therefore permits from both the Kennebunkport Code Enforcement Office and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection were required. After many meetings, all applicable permits were obtained.

This customer wanted a low maintenance landscape with lots of color during the summer months. They also wanted the landscape to preserve the old beach cottage feel they had before they renovated.

In order to achieve these goals we used large granite blocks, quarried to our specifications with old style drill marks, to build the stone retaining walls. Bluestone was laid for the walkway.

For the evergreen plants we used some standard and some unusual ones such as Foxtail Spruce. With deciduous shrubs and perennials, we added large splashes of color. To bring the landscape together and help it blend into the natural surroundings, we planted ornamental grasses. An irrigation system was installed to ensure the plants and lawn areas received enough water.
